Wollop Woods
Our grounds at Wallops Woods are located roughly midway between the picturesque Hampshire villages of Hambledon and Droxford. Here we not only have the first of the Club's shooting grounds, but also our club house and covered plinking range.
Our Wallops Woods grounds are open to Full Members of MVAC on an unrestricted basis almost every day of the year during daylight hours, and to Provisional Members at designated times whilst they are undergoing their probationary period.
In addition to the club house and other facilities, Wallops Woods also boasts a permanent 30-shot HFT/FT practice course as well as playing host to a wide number of pistol shooting competitions throughout the year.
Finding us: The nearest postcode SO32 3QX, but as this is for a residential property some distance away from Wallops Woods, you are strongly advised to use What3Words instead - “Switched.Buggy.Offshore” will bring you directly to the gated entrance to this ground, just off Hambledon Road. Follow the track along until you arrive at the Club.
Hen Woods
The Club's grounds at Hen Woods are where we stage most of the FT and HFT competitions that MVAC hosts at club, regional, and national level, and are considered by many visiting shooters to be amongst the most beautiful locations in the country - especially in the Spring when the bluebells are in bloom.
However, beautiful as this setting may be, its elevated position means that what was just a gentle breeze down in the Meon Valley is considerably stronger at our Hen Woods ground - presenting the shooter with quite a challenge when it comes to “reading the wind” before taking the shot.
The Club is only able to shoot at Hen Woods on Sundays, though we are permitted access on other days for course-setting, maintenance and so forth.
Finding us: Hen Woods: The nearest postcode is GU32 1HY, but once again this is for a property that is some distance away from the entrance off the road up to Hen Woods, we strongly recommend that visitors instead use the What3Words “Holidays.Polygraph.Hardening”. This will take you to the track that leads up to Hen Woods, off of the road that runs between East Meon and West Meon. Follow the track for approximately 1 mile to the shooting ground, taking the left hand fork after about a third of a mile.
